Have you ever seen the Mojave Desert? Ever traversed through it? Generally speaking - off the beaten path - you see NO ONE! It seems ludicrous to me that such an enourmous deal is made out of this ARTWORK in the shape of a cross. Isn't this a persecution of ARTISTIC expression? The whole crapper of a lawsuit makes me want to go there and remove the box ... and I am in Ohio! I like the idea of filing a lawsuit against the ACLU for religous persecution. With all the money floating around in the Christian Community one would think we could sink their ship - and keep it there. Seperation of Church and State was never intended to mean this. Screw fairness!

The ACLU are traitors to our country when they try to have a memorial Cross torn down, especially one that was put up for veterans long before most of us were even born. They are why we have a lot of the freedoms that we enjoy. I am a VietNam veteran and when I here of somebody trying to take away what I went and fought for, it causes me to take these people and send them to some other country or back to theirs if they weren't born here. It just burns my you know what when I hear this stuff. They should have to spend at least two years in the service when they protest veterans memorials or anything concerned with GOD!!! If you don't want to see it, don't look. If you don't like what you read, don't read it, PERIOD!!!

I just recently became aware of this travesty.That a cross put up as a memorial for our fallen heros has been dubbed as offensive by one individual a thousand miles away is unbeliveable.That a judge,who i am sure is American,would order it to be covered is even more unbelievable.The move to have this cross removed must be defeated,and the ACLU MUST BE STOPPED.It is a cross in the desert today.Will it be one in your local cemetary tomorrow?I am going to alert all my friends of this rediculous attempt to remove this cross ,And ask God to lead and guide those who will defend it in court.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

I don't see where Congress passed a law saying this cross was a symbol of a national religion, so get the courts out of the way.

My opinion...The First Amendment protects the right of those honored by their ultimate sacrifice to be remembered for their Faith in their religions AND their Country through the use of a memorial cross on public lands they fought to protect! Remember...The courts are not permitted to "create laws" that "prohibit the free excercise thereof!"

Congress shall make no law respecting (does this mean "respect" or "with respect to?") an establishment (does this mean TO establish or AN establishment?" of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

If they rule to take down this beautiful memorial cross, then should they not then travel all American highways and take down crosses put up on sites where loved ones have died? It is unbelieveable that our tax dollars go to trying a case as ridiculous as this. Equal rights is for everyone, not just those atheists!

Dave, I couldn't agree more. The ACLU has gone too far one more time. I agree that the class action lawsuit would be the perfect action, but the sad reality is no one would take the case. How this case even made it this far is disgusting. Our feelings and beliefs are the ones that are not being defended.

I am not from the US but what a shame.
America is known as the land of the free but a cross can't even be put up? What about the Red Cross then? Why should anyone want to object to a religios symbol. We should respect all. It is offensive to show so much violence on tv but that appears ok. The case brought is not about freedom, it is about taking away freedom.
